Teams, roles and client companies in one account

Nested teams that roll up to leadership, a simple permission model, and room for an agency to run every client company from one account.

Clarion works for a ten-person team running one weekly sync. It also works for a company with a leadership team, six departments and a dozen sub-teams — and for a consultancy running the same operating rhythm across twenty client businesses. Teams and companies are how it stretches.

Teams that mirror your organisation

Every company starts with one default team. Add more under Settings → Teams, and give each one a parent: Sales and Marketing under Leadership, Inbound and Outbound under Sales. The tree can go as deep as your organisation does.

Each team has its own milestones, metrics, challenges, syncs and Hub. Switch teams in the sidebar and everything you see follows. The company’s vision board lives with the leadership team — one board per company.

Roll-ups for the people above

A team with teams under it gets roll-up cards on its milestones, metrics and challenges pages — one per team that reports to it, showing how many milestones are on track, how many metrics are on target, and how many challenges are open or escalated, with the ones that need attention called out. A leadership team can see which department needs help without sitting in every meeting.

A permission model you can explain in one sentence

Clarion has five role names you can give someone — Owner, Admin, Full Access, Advisor and Contractor — and two levels of permission behind them:

  • Owners and admins manage the company: settings, teams, people and invitations, categories, the default sync agenda, API keys, webhooks and integrations.
  • Everyone else — Full Access, Advisor and Contractor — works in the teams they belong to: creating and updating milestones, metrics, challenges, action items, articles and assets, and running syncs. These three roles currently have the same permissions; the name tells colleagues how someone relates to the company.

Team reach follows the same split. Owners and admins see every team. Everyone else sees the teams they’ve been added to. When you invite someone under Settings → Team & Permissions, you choose their role and pre-assign their teams, so they land in the right place on first login. The roles and permissions doc has the full list of admin-only actions.

Many companies, one account

If you run Clarion for more than one business — as a consultant, an agency, or a holding company — an owner switches the account to Consultant under Settings → Company. Then add client companies under Settings → All Companies. Each client gets its own teams, vision board, milestones, metrics, syncs and knowledgebase; nothing is shared between clients.

The company switcher at the top of the sidebar lists your own company with its clients nested underneath. Pick one and you’re working in that company, with its data and its teams.

Access across clients

Your own staff don’t need a separate invitation to every client. On a person’s settings, Client Company Access lets you tick the clients they should see one by one — or switch on All Clients to give them every client company at once, including ones you add later.

When you need the view from above, the advisor view puts every client’s health on one page.

Start simple

Most companies need fewer teams than they think. Start with a leadership team and one team per department; add sub-teams only when a group has its own weekly sync. The teams doc covers setup, and the consultant guide to onboarding a client company covers the multi-company side.
