A milestone’s status is its owner’s weekly answer to one question: will this land on time? Updating it before each sync keeps the dashboard honest and turns the milestones review into a quick scan instead of a round of questions.
Change the status
- Open the team’s Milestones page.
- Click the status pill on the milestone’s row.
- Choose one of:
- On Track — you expect to hit the due date.
- Off Track — it won’t land as planned without a change.
- Completed — it’s done.
The change saves straight away. Anyone who can open the team’s Milestones page can change a status.
You can also do this during a live sync: the milestones step of the agenda shows the same list, with the same status menu. See Run a live sync.
What changes when you mark it Completed
- Clarion records the date it was completed.
- If the milestone has no subtasks, its progress jumps to 100%. With subtasks, progress still follows how many are ticked off — see Add milestone subtasks.
- It drops out of the default All Open view. Choose Completed or All Statuses in the filter to see it.
- In the list it moves to the end, with completed milestones sorted most recently finished first.
- It stops counting towards Milestones On Track on the dashboard, which only counts open milestones.
- If your company has webhooks set up for it, a
milestone.completedevent is sent. See Set up webhooks.
Changed your mind? Set it back to On Track or Off Track. The completion date is cleared and it rejoins the open list.
Where status shows up
- The team’s Milestones page — the colour of the progress bar and the count in the page header (“6 milestones • 4 on track”).
- The dashboard — the Milestones On Track card and the Quarterly Milestones list. See Use the dashboard.
- The parent team’s Team Roll-Up — each sub-team’s card counts on-track and off-track milestones, and lists the ones that are off track.
- All Companies — for consultants, a company’s share of milestones on track feeds its health score. See Manage client companies.
At Risk
Milestones imported from a spreadsheet can carry an At Risk status, and the dashboard labels them that way. The status menu on the Milestones page doesn’t offer At Risk, so once you change an imported milestone’s status, choose between On Track, Off Track and Completed.
When a milestone goes off track
Marking it Off Track says there’s a problem. The next step is usually a conversation:
- Raise a challenge describing what’s in the way — use Quick Add in the sidebar from any screen. See Raise a challenge.
- Discuss it in the challenges step of your next sync and agree what changes.
- Capture the follow-ups as action items with owners.
Don’t wait for the due date to say a milestone is off track. Flagging it early gives the team weeks to help instead of days. The team member guide on preparing for your sync covers a weekly routine for keeping status current.
