Quick add — capture challenges and action items from any page

Use Clarion's Quick Add to capture a challenge or action item from any screen in a few seconds, and save it with Cmd/Ctrl + Enter.

Problems and to-dos come up mid-conversation, not when you happen to be on the right page. Quick Add lets you capture a challenge or an action item from anywhere in Clarion without losing your place.

Open Quick Add

Click Quick Add at the top of the sidebar, on any page. In a live sync, the Add button in the header opens the same dialog.

Add a challenge

  1. Open Quick Add and choose Challenge.
  2. Enter a Title — the problem in a sentence, e.g. “Customer churn spike in enterprise”. This is the only required field.
  3. Optionally add a Description with the context someone would need to discuss it.
  4. Set the Priority: Low, Medium, High or Critical. It starts at Medium.
  5. Choose an Owner, or leave it Unassigned.
  6. Click Add challenge.

The challenge goes on that team’s Challenges page, ready for the next sync. To work with it from there — voting, escalating, resolving — see Raise a challenge.

Add an action item

  1. Open Quick Add and choose Action item.
  2. Enter a Title — what needs doing, e.g. “Follow up with finance on Q2 budget”.
  3. Optionally set a Due date.
  4. Choose an Owner, or leave it Unassigned.
  5. Click Add action item.

It shows up on the Action Items page. See Manage action items.

Which team it goes to

Quick Add files the new item under the team you’re working in, and says so at the bottom of the dialog: “Will be added to Marketing”, for example. If you’ve just come from the dashboard, that’s usually your default team, Leadership.

To add something to a different team, open that team from the sidebar first, then open Quick Add.

Faster still

  • With the cursor in the Title field, press Cmd+Enter (Mac) or Ctrl+Enter (Windows) to save without reaching for the mouse.
  • You can switch between Challenge and Action item inside the dialog without closing it.
  • Leaving the owner unassigned is fine when you’re capturing fast. Assign it during the sync — an item with no owner is the first thing to fix.

The operator guide on keeping action items moving covers how to stop a captured item from going stale.
