A challenge is a problem, risk or open question the team needs to talk through: a stalled pipeline, a supplier that keeps missing dates, a hire that isn’t working out. Raising it in Clarion puts it on the team’s list, where it’s voted on and discussed in the next sync instead of getting lost in chat.
Challenges belong to the team you’re viewing when you raise them.
Raise a challenge from the Challenges page
- In the sidebar, open Challenges under your team.
- Click Add Challenge.
- In the New Challenge dialog, enter:
- Title: the problem in a few words, such as “Sales pipeline is stalling”.
- Description: what’s happening and why it matters.
- Priority: High, Medium or Low. Medium is selected by default.
- Click Create Challenge.
Other ways to raise one
- From anywhere, with Quick Add. Click Quick Add in the sidebar, then choose Challenge. See Quick add.
- From a missed metric. On the Metrics page, click the metric’s row to expand it and click Flag as challenge. Clarion creates a medium-priority challenge titled “Metric name off target”, with the current value and target in the description, owned by the metric’s owner.
- From an action item. On the Action Items page, open an item’s More actions menu (⋯) and choose Create challenge. The item is linked to the new challenge and shows a Challenge tag you can click. See Manage action items.
- During a sync. Click Add in the live sync header to open Quick Add.
Fill in the details
Click any challenge to open its Challenge Details panel on the right. There you can:
- Edit the title and description. Changes save when you click away, and a Saved marker confirms it.
- Change the Priority.
- Set the Owner: the person responsible for driving it to a resolution.
- See its Age in days.
- Add Action Items: type a next step and press Enter. Each one is created as an action item linked to this challenge.
Find challenges
- Use Search challenges… to filter by text.
- Use All, High, Medium and Low to filter by priority.
- Click Show Resolved to include challenges that have been closed.
The list is sorted pinned first, then escalated, then by votes, so the most pressing items rise to the top. See Vote and escalate challenges.
Resolve, reopen or delete
- When the issue is dealt with, click Resolve in the details panel. It drops out of the open list and records the date it was resolved.
- To bring one back, turn on Show Resolved and click Reopen (on the card) or Reopen Challenge (in the panel).
- To remove a challenge entirely, hover over its card and click the trash icon.
Import existing challenges
If you’re moving from a spreadsheet, click Import and choose an Excel file (.xlsx or .xls). Clarion reads the Title, Description, Owner and Priority columns.
